A LITTLE BIT ABOUT L.A. 

We use the Harcourt - Trophies series in 6th grade at our school.  We read one story and practice a skill and reading strategy each week.  We also publish at least 2 and usually 3 writing pieces a marking period. I also am currently having students work in Literature Circles to read three different chapter books.  Each book fits the reading level of those students.  They continue to review and practice those same skills and strategies during this I/E time.  Those students that are Advanced are challenged with a harder book, but still practice the same skills.
